1/60 Perfect Grade Strike Freedom Gundam

They’re here! The 1/60 Perfect Grade Strike Freedom Gundams arrived at Hobbylink Japan bright and early this morning and were immediately set upon by the folks from Gunpla TV.

Bandai stated that the Strike Freedom will be the biggest Perfect Grade ever and one look in the box tells us that they weren’t exaggerating. There are 55 runners to this kit; so much that we almost couldn’t fit them all on our work table, though Syd enjoyed trying.

As part of our Perfect Grade special we have an exclusive interview with Bandai Design Project Leader Kishiyama san where he discusses with HLJ president, Scott Hards, the Strike Freedom and how model designing has changed since the first Perfect Grade kit from Bandai.

This is also the episode where we announce the winners to our Episode 20 contest. To all who entered thank you very much, and to our winners, congratulations!

Let us know what YOU want to see in our upcoming PG Strike Freedom Episodes!

Holy crap, that looks so epic! If only I didn’t have to sell my kidney to get one… Congrats to the winners, that was a lot of entries. Can’t wait to see the build!

  • Jun on 12/09/2010 at 18:57

Must be X-mas for you already by seeing the way you unboxed that beast. Do you know if the decals are water slides or combination of dry transfer and regular stickers? Oh, and cardboard cuts suck :( Congrats to the winners and I’m excited to see the epic build.

  • G.A. on 12/09/2010 at 19:37

    Congrats to the winners :)
    (I wish I won though D:)

  • Dominic Rose on 12/09/2010 at 19:48

I couldn’t wait for this episode to come out and it dint disappoint. Now i have to do the waiting all over again for next week! Good Stuff

  • Kyle on 12/09/2010 at 20:29

The PG seems very similar to the MG Full Burst Mode Strike Freedom. Still a beautiful PG kit. Can’t wait to get mine.

  • evangeline on 12/09/2010 at 21:47

Hi HLJ, I heard that Syd said at the MG 00 Qan[T] contest “number 4 is Evangeline”. Did I won the MG 00 Qan[T], or the other person with the same username of mine with a different e-mail address is the one who win that model? If I was the winner of that model, I haven’t received your message to my email yet and when you will gonna send it? Please reply… :(

  • Steven Remington on 12/09/2010 at 22:09

    @Graham

Just be patient. Perhaps there will be a sale someday. Thats how I was able to get my hands of 2 PG Zero Wing customs for about $60.

  • killing74 on 12/09/2010 at 22:20

    Really Really great kit

  • bryanz09 on 12/09/2010 at 22:22

    aww… i didn’t won the mg 00 qan[t]. :(

btw, congrats for those winners of this model though. :)

  • Charles I. Kim on 12/09/2010 at 22:25

That’s a ton of parts. It’s probably why I’d never even consider buying a PG. MG kits are good enough for me; not to mention PG kits are very very expensive and time consuming.

  • iancharles on 12/09/2010 at 22:36

wait hlj, did i won the prize from gunpla episode 20?
how can i receive the prize? through sending first your message to my email and then i’ll gonna reply on it, or i am the one who will gonna send a message to hlj’s e-mail add first in order to receive it?

  • Kamm on 12/09/2010 at 23:15

Congratulations to the winners! Thank you for holding the competition guys! Your too generous! <3

That PG looks immense…. with my building skills it would probably take me like a month to just build it ^^ hahaha i suck at building OOB. Cant wait to see more of this build and see how it functions.

  • bryanz09 on 12/09/2010 at 23:40

aww.. i didn’t won the prize.

anyway, congrats to the winners and i’m excited to see the features and inner frame of pg strike freedom gundam. :D

  • Kuroi on 12/09/2010 at 23:48

Wow, the Freedom kit looks really awesome! xD
Can’t wait to see you struggling when you build it ;3 No no, I’m sure it’ll turn out great!
Too bad I haven’t won anything (as usual), it would have been great. And you’re really great for giving away 5 kits instead of 2 now – I really love you guys!~

  • bryanz09 on 12/10/2010 at 00:18

hlj, i posted 2 comments in this page and why they didn’t displayed in this page?

are those comments of mine wasn’t accepted, was become hidden and the hlj has the only right to read them, or it needs some approval of hlj in order to make them visible in this page??

  • Dr. Robotnik on 12/10/2010 at 00:27

yay, congratulations to the winners! :D

  • Blind on 12/10/2010 at 00:58

Yea Boy! Thanks so much, HLJ! I can’t wait to build it!

  • Yuri Barbosa Ordeste on 12/10/2010 at 02:23

Congrats to the winners, even though I wish I had won………. :’(. But onto the PG subject… DAAAAAAAMN, 55 RUNNERS!? SERIOUSLY!? God damn, just… wow.

And the best part was the interview, really really apreciated, so nice to watch. =)

  • dann99 on 12/10/2010 at 02:31

omedetou gozaimasu! to the winner…Although i wish i was the one who has won…and wow, how do they fit 55 runers on a box which is slightly smaller then the 00 raiser PG box?…i am surprised!

  • Joe on 12/10/2010 at 02:54

Congrats to the lucky winners and Syd, I hope you try to actually sleep over the next month or so. I know when I have an exciting kit waiting for me, I lose sleep until it’s finished; usually a nights worth over half a week’s time… but this, I think I would lose a weeks worth of sleep in a week!

  • antonella on 12/10/2010 at 03:10

    NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE

  • Manzi on 12/10/2010 at 03:45

It’s awesome!, a can’t wait to have mine, just hope to arrived just in time for my birthday :) , I want to give some tips to make the inner frame even more shiner.

  • Ken on 12/10/2010 at 03:54

::tear:: I didn’t win…. But ehh that Mg death scythe looks great though, better than I would have thought.

N that PG is a beast I still have a strike rouge pg to build so it’ll take me a while before I would get to other PGs lol.

  • Gallen (Adam) on 12/10/2010 at 04:09

    Grats to the winners! :D
Looking foward to see the PG Build.

IanCharles, could this be the person I know in real life?

  • Samshio on 12/10/2010 at 06:28

    @Steven

For that price, I have no idea how you got them unless for free and just pay for the shipping lol

  • Andres on 12/10/2010 at 06:40

    Congrats to the winners!

  • elmers_cow on 12/10/2010 at 07:08

seeing all of these runner makes me feel really stressed…… lol is that a good thing?

  • jason Nguyen on 12/10/2010 at 08:08

  • Gallen (Adam) on 12/10/2010 at 08:44

I’ve read about the parts ordering service on the HLJ site, how does it work for Gunpla?
Would it be buying a whole Runner? etc?

  • HLJ : Luke on 12/10/2010 at 09:03

@ Jason Nguyen if you watch the episode you will find out the winners.

  • HLJ : Luke on 12/10/2010 at 09:06

@ Manzi a stop motion build with over 900 parts is a little on the time consuming side haha.

  • HLJ : Luke on 12/10/2010 at 09:08

@ Bryanz09 we approve comments before they display on the site, it helps to filter out spam.

  • HLJ : Luke on 12/10/2010 at 09:09

@ iancharles you sure did win mate, dont worry we will be contacting you!

  • HLJ : Luke on 12/10/2010 at 09:25

  • Shaharul Hizam Bin Shamsuddin on 12/10/2010 at 13:09

Hi. Why can’t I get any of the episodes in iTunes anymore? The last one was Episode 19. When I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing, iTunes tells me that ‘There are no playable episodes for “Hobbylink.tv”. The link might points to text-only episodes, or contain file types that iTunes cannot play.’
I know that I can still watch them on YouTube but I prefer downloading them in iTunes and watching them in my leisure time. Also, video buffering on YouTube is a hassle.
Thanks in advance for any info and keep churning out the enjoyable episodes!

  • iancharles on 12/10/2010 at 13:31

oh, thank you very much, hlj. i’m very lucky that i’m one of the winners of the awesome mg 00 qan[t]. :D

anyway, i received your mail to my email and replied to it since about 1 hour ago. about what time will you gonna start sending the prize into my address?

(sorry if i repost this cause i’ve made a little mistake in my previous post. :( )

  • HLJ : Luke on 12/10/2010 at 13:44

@ iancharles sorry but we cant tell you a time of day we will be sending out the prizes but we will be doing our best to send them out. We are quite busy with christmas coming up so please be patient.

  • zujin on 12/10/2010 at 13:45

    Congrats to the winners….

  • HLJ : Luke on 12/10/2010 at 13:46

@ shaharul we are aware of this problem and we believe it has something to do with our Japanese side of the site not allowing the RSS to update correctly. Dont worry we are working on it, thanks for you patience!

  • Yami on 12/10/2010 at 14:48

Wow i see quite plenty of disappointment, just curious how many entrants for the giveaway last week.

  • Shaharul Hizam Bin Shamsuddin on 12/10/2010 at 14:57

Hi again and tq for the prompt reply Luke. Just managed to catch the latest episode on YouTube and heartiest congratulation to the winners. And kudos to HLJ for sponsoring another 3 MG QAN[T].

  • HLJ : Luke on 12/10/2010 at 14:59

@ Yamia we originally had only 2 kits to give away then we were flooded with entrants so Hobbylink Japan bumped up the kit number to 5 kits total. We had roughly 500-600 people enter the competition.

  • Zhi on 12/10/2010 at 15:02

Wow… the sheer number and size of the PG Strike Freedom runners sure is incredible to behold. Would probably take me 2-3 months just to snapfit all that haha.

Congratulations to all the MG Quant winners ^^.

  • Keane on 12/10/2010 at 15:31

    Madness.

  • Leon on 12/10/2010 at 18:03

darnn xD HLJ went and gave away 5 MG Qan[T]‘s instead of 2 and still D: oh wells congratz to the winners build those MG’s WITH extreme care xD
(i wanted it to be my first mg :<)

  • iancharles on 12/10/2010 at 18:07

    @hlj, ok sir. :)

  • HotShot8259 on 12/10/2010 at 22:33

WOW!!!! 55 runners! massive! its going to be a good and fullfilling build once you finish this. Will be watching the developments on this project Syd! :)

  • John G on 12/11/2010 at 06:45

55 runners is’nt a new record. PG 00 raiser has 57 in total. Its abit misleading to say that the 00 has 32 runners and not include the runners for the 0-raiser and weapons in that number since they come with it anyway.

  • Lex on 12/11/2010 at 07:15

Man… and here I haven’t even opened my PG Astray Red Frame and they pull this kit out. 55 runners is just insane! Makes me not wanna open mine now. Sheesh…

And yes, congrats to those who won. It would’ve been nice to win as well, but I already have (and currently building) the MG Qan[T]. ^_^

Good luck with putting that PG kit together… we will be waiting in anticipation.

  • Noel G. Francisco on 12/11/2010 at 18:12

Congrats to the winners!!! This kit is huge… can’t wait to receive mine… hopefully by Monday or Tuesday it will arrive :)

  • Dan on 12/11/2010 at 18:51

    I didn’t win…guess I have no luck. D:
(I wanted it to be m first MG kit.)

Anyway, congrats to those who won!!

  • Indrajaya on 12/12/2010 at 20:04

    Hi,
Congrats to all winner, to bad i didn’t win buhuuuu

    Thx 4 the answer

  • rosseiter on 12/16/2010 at 14:27

I just wanted to say thanks again, HLJ! I got my Qan[T] in the mail today and I am so excited to build it! I’m going to try my hand at airbrushing, so maybe I will do some WIP articles in the User Content section. Thanks again!

  • evangeline on 12/23/2010 at 13:01

I got my MG 00 Qan[T] now. Thank you very much guys! :D

  • guanyu on 01/16/2011 at 05:21

That thing is cool…but…€180 on hlj.com without shipping and custom tax…
    I can not afford such a thing…
Let see if I can manage to arrange some cash this year for that.

  • 240082Exia on 09/10/2011 at 20:42

:O the PG Strike Freedom Gundam need to get that. So pro and its my favorite.

    DROOL

  • [...] this kit is also going to be used for Gunpla TV, I can’t just run through the build.  I need to keep some stuff back for use when filming.  [...]
