I don’t have a link to anything as simple as just painting, but I’m sure Youtube has tons of those videos. Try looking up a guy on youtube called GhostofZeon. As for some more advanced stuff, I recommend trying this guy: http://codyscoop.com/models/how-to he does great work, and he makes it rather simple to pick up.
That’s a good way to start there, however i suggest against using an x-acto knife to remove the gate. Once you have your part separated from the tree, use your sidecutters with the flat side facing the part, and trim the gate off as close as you can. This gives you less of a chance of gouging the plastic with the knife, which is a common issue by…[Read more]
oh didn’t even notice he was using that in his tutorials, just found a site with a bunch of tutorials and posted to help out.
Anyways yeah don’t use that, use a modeling knife, with changeable blades. Though I must confess when I started I was using a nail clipper to cut sprues,, would not recommend that either btw lol.
always check garage sales and thrift stores. i’m in the US and i was on craigslist daily when i was looking. don’t have an IKEA here so it was my best shot. missed some ads on curio cabinets but was worth it to find what i finally ended up getting.
Thanks Darkfire I’ll give it a shot, I was actually thinking of exchanging the wings from the wing gundam and putting them on the Deathsythe, might aswell start with something easy 🙂
Your welcome shane.. try to view pictures or videos on youtube maybe you can get some ideas on kitbashing and also watch the upcoming episode of gunpla TV syd is going to show some kitbashing..
I think kit bash is limited only in your own imagination, if you think its possible and you think its great then go for it. that’s what I think but I never done kitbash myself.

no prob. Tim’s advise is good btw using the enamels for the details. In theory a spary paint is a laquer base, and you can use enamel paints over that and even clean it up with an enamel thinner without harming the laquer (you wanna be careful trying that, I’ve never tested this), and over those you can then use acrylic paints and again be able…[Read more]
hlj does ship certain paints mainly the Vallejo line. Those are able to be shipped internationally. That said I’ve never tried them.
For a first time painter I’d recommend just using Tamiya spray paints it’s the easiest route, but be careful of overspray where the paint starts dripping and pooling. From there I’d eventually move to an airbrush…[Read more]

I’m in the middle of building the Gundam wing, there are a lot of small pieces, and I find it frustrating trying to put them together, my hands start sweating which makes it more difficult 🙁 any tips would be great, maybe to where gloves??
I’d recommend tweezers for handling smaller parts, and also you don’t have to build a model all at once, if you’re starting to get sweaty or frustrated then just walk away and do some more later.
As for gloves, well that’s up to you it’d stop sweat and your natural body oils from getting on the plastic but it’d also make gripping these small…[Read more]
Rubber gloves are the way to go. In my case anyway. The thin type. I call them condom gloves for obvious reasons. 🙂 It helps you get the sweat off of your work in progress, damaging the paint and minor scratches etc etc. Don’t forget to wash your hands after using those before touching your models because they’re powder-coated inside for easier…[Read more]
