  1. Hello Ardith and Robin. This is the first time have watched an episode of toy tengoku. I was amazed. Im a hobbyist and love Japanese model kits but after watching your show I have been drawn into another great aspect of Japanese culture. You guys got it made. Two questions though. Where are you from originally? and was it hard assimilating to living in Japan?

  3. Robin & Ardith, thank you for hosting this contest and for the commentary/attention you gave each entry. I particularly enjoyed watching and viewing all the submissions as they came in – each a different and creative approach to depicting MELON KUMA! It’s been many years since I’ve entered a contest and yours has been an inspiring experience for me – thank you for providing the extra awards, there indeed were many deserving entries that merited attention. Overall, you both did a fantastic job and have my admiration for judging an art contest – I don’t think I could do it!

I don’t think I lost, I really enjoyed this. haven’t drawn anything on paper for a long time and this had been a ice breaker for me.

Hyped for the future competitions now! XD

  6. @Derrick Cordray: Thanks very much for your comment! Ardith and I are both originally from the U.S. As far as assimilating to life in Japan, it’s probably different for everyone, and for me at least it took a little longer than I thought it would, but basically it’s pretty similar to moving into a new house or apartment–things feel a bit weird for a while, and then at some point you realize you automatically think of it as “home.”

  7. Holy crow, there were sooo many excellent entries!! I can see why it would have been such a tough task trying to select the winners. All the artists did such a great job and have amazing talent. Well done everyone!

I suspect Robin, Ardith, and Ryan had so much fun with this contest that they are probably already pondering T.T.’s next contest theme. 🙂
