I use Vallejo air for most of my projects and I find they generally don’t need thinning. If they do, I stick with the Vallejo thinner. I’ve tried isopropyl and the Tamiya thinner, but they turn the Vallejo into a clumpy mess. Something about the chemistry just does not mix.

Thanks! The chipping is grey painted on top of the base yellow with a torn section of dish sponge; the yellow portion of those ubiquitous yellow/green scrub ones. I then in-painted on some of the chips with a metallic color to give them a bit of depth.

Just finished my first Diorama! Master Grade RB 79 Ver Ka as Construction Pod. I wanted to portray it in a sort of repair situation with the beautiful inner frame exposed….
Very nicely done! Love the weathering on the ball. Even the thrusters are beautifully weathered. If I may ask, how did you perform the paint chipping? Is it done using the hairspray technique or using a sponge? It looks really realistic. Again, great build!

Thanks! Since you mentioned it I thought I may have mis-remembered, but it seems that Trumpeter and Revell put out almost identical kits. It’s kind of eerie….
MGS Rex – I’m not building it quite yet, but hope to start soon. I’ve had it in my stash for a bit and I’m itching to go. Thought it might be fun to get a group build going if anyone else is interested. A new version of the kit is coming out in June as well!
